Obituary

Joy Gay Fellett was born September 30, 1959 in Jamaica to the late Doris Winter.  She was the third of seven children; raised in humble beginnings but surrounded by love and laughter.

On Wednesday, October 29th, 2025, at the age of 66, Joy was called home to be with the Lord.  Her soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest.

Growing up, Joy and her siblings shared a simple yet rich childhood. Evenings were often spent playing dominoes in a candle-lit environment because they had no electricity; their laughter echoing through the night.

Days were filled with the rhythm of community life—fetching water from the local well, helping one another with chores and finding joy in life’s simplest moments, like picking mangoes straight from the tree. Those memories shaped Joy’s strong sense of family and appreciation for togetherness.

From an early age, Joy stood out for her spirited nature. She was outspoken, honest and unafraid to say what others only thought—but always with purpose and heart. She carried her love for God deeply, often reminding others of His faithfulness and the importance of truth.

After her move from Jamaica, Joy became a member of the Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverhead, NY, under the leadership of Pastor Bettina V. Pennon.  She faithfully attended church until her health prevented her from doing so.

Joy is survived by her daughter: Trecia Pinto; grandchildren: Robert (Jay) and Skye; her sisters, brother and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She will be remembered as a woman of faith and authenticity, whose life reflected the beauty of resilience and the power of love
